Understanding NIH’s New Data Management and Sharing Plan Requirements

Deep Stretch

This is a slower 30-minute practice focused on active stretching of muscles and opening of connective tissue. Release built-up tension, prevent injury, increase blood flow to muscles and increase long-term flexibility. This virtual class, brought to you by VCU HR and RecWell, will leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed as you head into the summer. No equipment requirements though a yoga mat is recommended. VCU Career Services is hosting its next VCU Career Champions training session on Monroe Park Campus. The purpose of this program is to give faculty and staff the necessary tools, theories and resources to draw upon when supporting students through their career development, experiential learning and job search process. Everyone who participates will be recognized as a VCU Career Champion and will receive a certification sticker, digital badge and icon for email signature similar to other on-campus programs. Spring 2026 Final Grades Due at Noon May 12
Grade sheets are now available on faculty eServices. Grades are due by noon on Tuesday, May 12 at which time grade entry will no longer be available. It is imperative to meet this deadline to complete all end-of-the-semester processes. Faculty may choose to use the feature to upload grades from an Excel file into eServices; or the Ellucian Grade Passback in Canvas. Faculty may only access grade sheets for courses to which they have been assigned.

VCU Department of Music invites students to register for choir for the upcoming academic year. Three ensembles are available: Commonwealth Singers, Choral Arts Society and Vox Concordia. Thriving Communities Research Pilot Grant Program: Request for Proposals
The Thriving Communities Research Pilot Grant Program, offered by VCU’s Division of Community Engagement, provides up to $25,000 in seed funding for community-engaged research projects across all disciplines. The program is designed to support VCU faculty and research staff in piloting community-engaged research projects that respond to community-identified needs. Join the Community-Engaged Research Scholars Collaborative (CERSC)
This collaborative offers a dynamic opportunity for tenure-track faculty to connect across disciplines and strengthen community-engaged research. All sessions will be held in person and focus on peer exchange and shared learning from September 2026 to May 2027. Free Regalia From Previous Cultural Celebrations Is Available
VCU's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) anounces that free regalia from the Spring 2025 cultural celebrations will be available to all graduating students while supplies last. Distribution will take place on a first-come, first-served basis on Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day in the OMSA Office, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., Suite 215. This distribution is separate from the new regalia that will be provided to students participating in the MOSAIC Celebration on Wednesday, May 6. If you are interested in picking up previous year's free regalia, plan accordingly, as quantities are limited and items will be distributed while supplies last. Faculty Learning Communities Survey
FLCs are small groups of faculty members who meet regularly to explore a shared teaching and learning topic. Participants engage in collaborative discussions and reflect on their teaching in a supportive environment. Individual feedback will help VCU's Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence plan future FLCs that best support your teaching and student success.

VCU Compliance Update: ADA Title II Digital Accessibility Deadline Extended
The Department of Justice has extended compliance deadlines for accessibility of web content and mobile applications by one year. Under the Interim Final Rule, the compliance deadline for large public entities such as VCU is now April 26, 2027. No other provisions of the 2024 rule have been changed. Ankle Sprain Research Study (Ages 14–30)
The Research in Athlete and Military Health Sciences (RAMHS) group is seeking participants ages 14-30 years to complete a research study assessing hip muscle function following ankle sprains. You may participate if you either have a first-time lateral ankle sprain or have no ankle sprain history and are healthy (control group). This study will require one in-person study visit at our research laboratory at Biotech 8, an electronic questionnaire about your health and sport participation, ultrasound imaging assessments of your hip at rest (lying down) and during light activity (squatting, treadmill walking) and hip muscle strength assessments. Participants with ankle sprains will also be asked to complete remote electronic surveys at three and six months after the in-person visit.
