Importing, Structuring and Preparing Data for Analysis

VCU's C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research will present a lunch research seminar via Zoom. Nuha Farhat, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Mathematics and Economics, Virginia State University, will provide hands-on instruction in importing datasets and understanding data structure in a research context. The session will be held via Zoom and will be broadcast in the VCU School of Pharmacy, Robert Blackwell Smith Building, Room 545, 410 N. 12th St. for any faculty, staff or students who wish to join. Sujith Ramachandran, Ph.D., University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, will discuss the role of evidence in policy-making. His research focuses on building a high-quality, equitable health care system that improves patient outcomes and delivers value. In addition, he studies medication use access and policy, with work examining opioid use in older adults and stimulant use among young adults.

Summer 2026 Student Permit Sales
Here is the process for Summer and Fall 2026 student permit sales for the MPC and MCV campuses. Summer 2026 sales will take place on Wednesday, May 13 at 9 a.m. Here is the MCV Lottery Fall 2026 process. Lottery signups will be Monday, July 13 9 a.m. to Thursday, July 16 at 4 p.m. Lottery award letters will be Monday, July 20 beginning at 9 a.m. Lottery permit sales wil be Tuesday, July 21 at 9 a.m. to Friday, July 24 at 4 p.m. Leftover sales will be Monday, July 27 at 9 a.m. MPC Campus Fall 2026 sales will take place on Tuesday, July 28, at 9 a.m. The MPC sale is first-come, first-served, while the MCV is a lottery process. Be sure to verify the proper vehicle information you are registering when purchasing your permit, since the license plate recognition (LPR) system is used. Call for Applications: VCU-PMDC Pilot Grants
The VCU Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Center (PMDC) provides up to $75,000 in Pilot Grants to fund clinical, translational or basic science investigations in Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders. Open to faculty, post-doctoral students and fellows, undergraduates and graduate students. Submission deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. See request for proposals at the following URL.

Ankle Sprain Research Study (Ages 14-30)
The Research in Athlete and Military Health Sciences (RAMHS) group is seeking participants ages 14-30 years to complete a research study assessing hip muscle function following ankle sprains. You may participate if you either have a first-time lateral ankle sprain or have no ankle sprain history and are healthy (control group). This study will require one in-person study visit at our research laboratory at Biotech 8, an electronic questionnaire about your health and sport participation, ultrasound imaging assessments of your hip at rest (lying down) and during light activity (squatting, treadmill walking) and hip muscle strength assessments. Participants with ankle sprains will also be asked to complete remote electronic surveys at three and six months after the in-person visit.

Concussion Research Study
Recruiting adolescents between the ages of 13 and 19 years old who have 1) never had a diagnosed concussion OR 2) sustained a concussion within the last 14 days. This non-invasive study is investigating the acoustic startle reflex and acoustic startle potentiation in relationship to subsequent injury following concussion. Participants will be compensated for their time.
