Carolyn Eastman, Ph.D., re-examines the Declaration of Independence in the context of the political, cultural and social forces shaping the revolutionary moment. From the influence of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense to debates over slavery, religion and relationships with Native nations, this webinar via Zoom challenges common myths and offers a deeper understanding of the document’s origins and impact. Eastman is professor in the Department of History in the College of Humanities and Sciences at VCU and is a scholar of early America and the Atlantic world. Cashier Office Closing for Physical Year-End Processing

The VCU Cashier's Office will be open on Monday, June 29 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Due to year-end processing, payments received after 3 p.m. on June 29 will be posted once VCU's year-end processes are complete. Departments using the dropbox on the MCV campus must ensure items are in the box by noon on June 29 for FY26 processing. On Tuesday, June 30 the Cashier's Office will be open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for drop-off only.

Women Needed for Research Study on Exercise and Anxiety

Researchers in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences are looking for healthy women ages 18–50 to help advance our understanding of how exercise and noninvasive brain stimulation may affect anxiety and overall well-being. Participants will receive a personalized fitness report and will complete three study visits. The study will take place on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Edmund O.
